Welcome!Ali Home Image

I'm a singer/songwriter and occasional actress.

I moved to Los Angeles from Minnesota to pursue my dreams writing and recording - mostly to get my songs heard and develop my song-writing abilities.

Yes, a typical story, I know.

I drove cross country with my car full of stuff, and showed up in L.A. with nothing and knowing no one.  Eventually, I put one foot in front of the other and made things start to happen. Found a job. Met a few people, and landed up with a boyfriend - disaster #1 (gory details are in my blog). This prompted a batch of bad love songs, but at least I was learning.

Eventually, when sanity returned, I met some R&B and pop producers who were very helpful. They saw something in me, and I'm grateful for the experience I gained.  Although I knew that the direction wasn't right for me, they all worked pro-bono so I had no reason to complain; all I wanted to do was write music, wherever and however I could.

So, I made a ton of CDs, had some minor successes and almost had my big break a couple of times.  All the while I was filling up journals and notebooks full of lyrics and really started to develop my point of view and discover the direction I wanted to follow: I wanted to Rock!

I then met the veteran producer, John Alcock, who helps me realize my vision. John in turn introduced me to guitarist extraordinaire Glenn Sciurba, and soon I knew that I had found the right musician and writing partner. Finally I was ready.

Over the following months, we recorded my new CD "Wooden Box" which is full of my personal and recent thoughts and feelings, and hopefully expressing who I am. Which is where I am today.

I feel deeply and emotionally connected to every song I have written. as I have been through hell and back again in the last couple years. From dealing with addiction, a sudden death of a friend, life threatening health problems and betrayed relationships.

Song-writing has always been there for me; I write because I have to, as a means of survival.

I put it all out there on this record, my blood and guts, I hope you feel that when you listen to it.  This is the cd I've been trying to have realized for some time now, and I want to do everything I can to make sure this CD gets heard.

Next steps - more songs, putting a band together so I can work live and tour, and record more and more ideas and try out new approaches to my songs. Some will work, others wont, but it's an exciting ride.

I'd love to hear what you think - comments and suggestions are welcome! You can contact me here.
